Paulo Szot is one of the most acclaimed and versatile baritones in the world ,having garnered international acclaim as an opera singer, an actor, a Broadway performer, and for his intimate cabaret performances. In 1994 he was a Pavarotti International Voice Competition finalist. Since his 1997 professional debut as Figaro in "The Barber of Seville", he has sung over 30 roles in over 60 productions in mostly Europe, the United States, and South America.
In 2008, the newly-minted Broadway star won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical making a sensational debut for his portrayal of Emile De Beque in theBroadway revival of "South Pacific" at Lincoln Center. He is the first Brazilian ever to win the Tony Award. Szot was also the winner of the Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Theater World awards for this same role. At the Annenberg Theater, Mr. Szot will be performing his new show, "Paulo Szot: Salute To Broadway" on Saturday, March 17th.
