Tony Award®-winner Laura Benanti was originally scheduled to open our season last year, but had to reschedule after being cast alongside Amy Schumer and Keegan Michael Key in Steve Martin’s hit Broadway play, Meteor Shower. We are excited to reschedule her for this November.
One of the theater’s most versatile performers, Benanti has racked up five Tony Award nominations and a win for her revelatory portrayal of Gypsy Rose Lee in Gypsy opposite Patti LuPone. She also has multiple Outer Critics Circle, Drama League and Drama Desk Award nominations. He musical credits include Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, The Wedding Singer, Nine, Swing and Into the Woods.
Benanti can currently be seen in the Samantha Bee and Jason Jones TBS comedy, The Detour. Additional television credits include Supergirl, Nashville, The Good Wife, and Showtime’s Nurse Jackie.
PBS Italian tenor, Pasquale Esposito returns to the Annenberg Theater for his 5th Engagement with his new program celebrating Italian Piazzas (Squares). The program is the live version of his new Public TV Special on KVCR PBS. Pasquale takes the audience on a musical journey paying tribute to the most beautiful piazzas in Italy and dedicating to each of them a song celebrating their history, beauty and romance. The evening’s program will include Italian and American standards and will also showcase Pasquale’s incredible vocal prowess with Pop-Opera.
